Commando droids land on the Rishi moon to attack a Republic outpost. Designed for surprise assaults, the droids quickly overwhelm the new clone trooper recruits stationed there. With this strategic outpost now in Separatist hands, General Grievous has everything in position to launch a surprise attack anywhere in the Outer Rim.
The BX-series droid commando made its first appearance in The Clone Wars episode entitled Rookies. This droid was immediately embraced by fans and we actually attribute it to its very familiar look to a standard Battle Droid. Basically a Battle Droid with a shortened muzzle and white photoreceptors, the Commando Droid(s) played important roles in multiple episodes. They were actually produced to fend off the impending threats of the Jedi against the Separatist movement, but unfortunately they were cost-prohibitive to produce (sounds familiar?) so this plan never came to full fruition. However, enough were created to cause enough havoc on a band of popular inexperienced clone troopers including Hevy, Echo, Fives and Cutup. It is a groundbreaking episode, because the battle that took place during this episode was responsible for inducting Echo and Fives into the 501st Legion. See how the Star Wars universe comes full circle time and again? Admittedly, we love these insignificant tie-ins to the films. Although the episode was a bit sappy because the clones didn't feel they had the drive to make an impact on the war, we find it hard to believe something like that would come out of a clone trooper’s mouth. We didn't see weakness in the films, so we are not entirely sure why we are seeing it in the television series.
Of course, The Clone Wars is certainly a place for character development, so we don't mean to criticize the story, it just seems like it was a path that we personally didn't necessarily want to go down with Filoni. But it is a great positive theme for the kiddies out there. We are just saying that a slightly better part of the storyline could have been told instead of focusing on the clones mustering up enough courage to fight and defend the Republic. That being said, this episode was excellent and brought us a great new droid. And Hasbro's interpretation of it is flawless. Trust us when we say you are definitely going to want to army build him. Commando Droid has 13 points of articulation. An extra neck joint has also been included and the droid lacks articulated wrists. It can be posed in nearly any stance due to ball-jointed hips that work in tandem beautifully with all of its other joints. The droid is lean and delicate looking thanks to a thin but 'muscular' frame. He is silvery-gray with bronze highlights on his arms and other moving points. His Super Battle Droid-like abdomen incrementally increases in size from the bottom up and attaches to a squared box chest. It is an awesome character to begin with, but Hasbro's action figure creation makes this droid that much more likeable. It also comes with a droid blaster that comes with a molded plug on it that attaches fairly well to its back when not is use shooting at clone troopers.
Commando Droid can stand in multiple positions very well due to multiple well-engineered designs. The droid is extraordinarily weighty for its deceivingly delicate frame. It looks more athletic and agile than the best battle droid and it seems that the Commando Droid could show them up by a landslide in battle against the Jedi. The small frame has solid mass which aids its center of gravity to a very large degree. Also, you can expect this action figure to hold up very well over time. It is a safe bet that the legs will not bow and bend over time as a strong plastic which will hold its state was used. And the well-proportioned body prevents any part from pulling it down or knocking it over. Commando Droid is overall a spectacular all-new figure. It has completely taken us by surprise and it is easily one of the best new action figures in The Clone Wars line. We are unable to find any problems or issues with it and we are certain you will not be able to either. Commando Droid really delivers premium quality and everything you would come to expect in an action figure. It will certainly impress you in more ways than you might imagine. And this droid is an excellent new character in The Clone Wars action figure line. Part of a very intriguing wave of figures, Commando Droid will undoubtedly make a splash in your growing collection. Check this droid out for sure. You will be thoroughly impressed.. we promise!

Part of an advanced droid series,[12] BX-series commando droids were advanced, sturdier versions of B1 battle droids. They were programmed with improved combat tactics and battlefield awareness and equipped with glowing whitephotoreceptors. Captains and other high-ranking commando droids bore white identifiers on their heads and chests.[1]
Due to a more compact head than the B1, commando droids could don Phase I clone trooper armor for infiltration missions.[1] Their heavy armor improved durability and allowed them to withstand several direct hits from a DC-15A blaster.[2] Additionally, commando droids were extremely agile and acrobatic, and were able to move and react much faster than a standard battle droid.[1] They were even able to continue fighting after having their legs sliced off with a lightsaber,[13] in contrast to standard B1 battle droids that could be defeated simply by knocking them over.[14] For improved infiltration capabilities, commando droids were able to alter their vocabulators in order to imitate clone troopers. However, their awkward movements in the armor and atypical responses to orders (usually 'roger, roger,' a common battle-droid response) meant that observant individuals could see through the ruse.[2] Commando droids were also quite strong, as one was able to lift Clone CaptainRex up by his neck.[15]
While they had numerous improvements over rank-and-file B1 battle droids, their production costs proved to be much higher.[4]
HistoryEdit
Clone WarsEdit
During the Clone Wars, when commando droids were still considered new, GeneralGrievous used commando droids to infiltrate and take control of the Republic'sRishi moonStation. At first, the droids were able to maintain control of the station until Clone CommanderCody and Clone Captain Rex arrived to inspect the station. Along with the survivors, Cody and Rex were able to retake the listening post from the commando droids and destroy them. However, droid reinforcements arrived at the station, so one of the station's clone troopers, Hevy, sacrificed himself destroy the base. The commando droids had hard-wired the base's all-clear signal, so the only way to alert the Republic of a planned Separatist attack on Kamino was to destroy the station, but the detonator did not link up with the Tibanna that was to be used to destroy the station. This forced Hevy to activate it himself, so Hevy sacrificed himself for the closest thing a clone trooper could call home. The base was destroyed, and the Republic stopped receiving the all-clear signal, which alerted them that something was wrong. A Republic fleet arrived at the Rishimoon, and Grievous and his fleet, being outgunned, were forced to retreat.[2]
At least two commando droids were stationed in Lessu during the Battle of Ryloth. There they attempted to stop the ARF troopersStak and Razor from activating the plasma bridge, but were defeated. The two ARF troopers activated the bridge, and Lessu was ultimately taken by the Republic and the Twi'lek Resistance. Separatist leader Wat Tambor was captured, and the Separatist occupation of Ryloth came to an end.[16]
General Grievous used commando droids when he boarded Jedi Council member Eeth Koth's flagship, the Steadfast, when he captured Koth. Later, in the Saleucami system, Grievous and his tactical droid, TV-94, then used them against fellow Jedi, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Adi Gallia, and Anakin Skywalker, when they rescued Koth from Grievous.[5] A pair of commando droids then acted as snipers after Grievous was forced to crash-land on Saleucami's surface. One of the droids then shot Captain Rex as he approached them. The Clone Captin would had been killed by the shot if he was two inches to the left. While Rex was recovering at a farmstead, he discovered that it belonged to a clone deserter named Cut Lawquane. The two clones ultimately defended Lawquane's family from commando droids and parted on good terms.[15]
Download game burnout paradise. The bounty hunterCad Bane used a pair of commando droids when he held several members of the Galactic Senate hostage. There, they were able to impersonate the Senate Commandos stationed at the entrance. They later escaped along with Bane, Ziro, and the other bounty hunters.[17]
Commando droids were also used as guards at the Citadel under WardenOsi Sobeck. There they guarded the prisoners, served as security,[7] and operated the laser cannons.[18]
The ConfederateministerRish Loo used commando droids against Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and SenatorPadmé Amidala when his plan was exposed.[19]
On Kiros, commando droids drove Flitknot Speeder Bikes and AATs when the Republic forcesarrived. The Confederate commanderDarts D'Nar had two with him as his guards when he negotiated with Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi for his surrender. Kenobi fought D'Nar in hand-to-hand combat, and this distracted him while Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and Jedi CommanderAhsoka Tano had disarmed all of D'Nar's bombs in the city. After they had disarmed the bombs while destroyed these units using the Force. D'Nar escaped from Kenobi by using a bomb he had hidden in his T-series tactical droid, much to the tactical droid's horror, but Skywalker and Tano caught up to D'Nar, and he was captured by Tano.[20]
During the Confederate–Republic peace conference at Sundari on Mandalore, commando droids served as guards to the Confederate delegation. Several then forcibly removed Onderon's Senator, Lux Bonteri, when he spoke out against CountDooku for his part in the murder of Lux's mother. After Padawan Ahsoka Tano rescued Bonteri from his execution, the commando droids then fought the Senate Commandos under Captain Taggart when the peace conference broke down.[21]
Commando droids were used by Grievous when Dooku ordered the destruction of the Nightsisters of Dathomir. During the Battle of Dathomir, commando were deployed by Grievous to combat the Nightsisters, and were with Grievous when he and his droids found MotherTalzin and Old Daka to a secret cave in the Nightsister lair. A commando droid used a rocket launcher to destroy the cave's wall, allowing Grievous and several droids get in and eliminate the Nightsisters inside.[22]
Several commando droids were deployed to the Onderoniancapital city Iziz.[23] They led the attack on the Onderon rebels' base in the highlands.[24]
Several commando droids took part in Grievous's invasion of Hondo Ohnaka's Gang'sbase on Florrum.[25]
AdmiralTrench used commando droids in his defense of Ringo Vinda space station. Several commando droids were also on theMaxillipede shuttle under the command of Commander Kraken used to transport clone trooper Tup from Ringo Vinda, as the trooper had mysteriously killed Jedi General Tiplar in what had been an early execution of Order 66[26] due to a failure in the clone's control chip.[27] The droids on the shuttle were destroyed by Anakin Skywalker, Clone Captain Rex, and ARC trooperFives, and Tup was rescued,[26] but Kraken was eventually rebuilt.[28]
Commando droids were used by Dooku when he invadedScipio. There, they fought Commander Thorn's detachment of the Coruscant Guard.[28]
Age of the EmpireEdit
Commando Droids were later used by Darth Vader and DoctorAphra after the destruction of the first Death Star when Vader discovered that his master, Darth Sidious, planned to replace him with the help of a rogue cybernetics doctor named Cylo.[8]
In 5 ABY,[29] the Siniteen prison builder Golas Aram used several commando droids to guard his private compound on the planet Irudiru. The New Republic operatives Sinjir Rath Velus and Jas Emari fought and defeated several of Aram's droids with the help of the New Republic Special Forces soldier Jom Barell.[30]
Rise of the First OrderEdit
- 'A commando droid? Okay.. I think I might be able to help.'
- ―Temmin Wexley[src]
In 34 ABY, the commando droid N1-ZX (or 'Nunzix') was a member of the Resistance's spy droid network prior to the Hosnian Cataclysm. Nunzix was programmed with a self-preservative software that made him obsessed with preserving his own life. Nunzix had a grumpy and selfish demeanor and was unwilling to risk his own life. He obtained information about the First Order and the location of Supreme LeaderSnoke while posted on the planet Kaddak. Poe Dameron, his commander C-3PO, and BB-8 undertook a mission to rescue him. Nunzix showed little gratitude to his rescuers and the spy droid vowed to only release the information once they returned to the Resistance base on D'Qar.[9]
Poe came to suspect that the information was ruse by the First Order Security BureauAgentTerex to lure the Resistance into a trap. Terex and the Ranc gang pursued Poe and the droids.[31] N1-ZX and his rescuers crash-landed on a desert planet and fled into a cave.[10] With N1-ZX unwilling to fight, Poe overrode his programming with a droid personality template supplied by his friend Temmin Wexley. Nunzix assumed the B1 battle droid Mister Bones' personality and slaughtered many of Terex's gangsters before being gunned down and disintegrated by Terex himself.[11]
EquipmentEdit
Droid commandos used a variety of weapons during battle. They commonly used the standard blaster of the Droid Army, the E-5 blaster rifle.[1] They were also known to use[5]vibroswords[1] for melee combat.[5] For ground assault they used thermal detonators[2] and sniper rifles for sniping.[15] The droids also often carried stun batons.[1] During the Battle of Dathomir, one of General Grievous' commando droids wielded a missile launcher.[22] At the Citadel they used special shields and used the cannons stationed there, but those cannons were normally operated by B1 battle droids.[18] The droids also had the ability to imitate the voices of others and wear the armor of clone troopers[2] and Senate Commandos.[17]
